That's nasty trey. #5 plug looks a lot worse than #7.
The new motor will either be a 347 iron block with 8.5:1 or a 364. The Livernios temptation is overwhelming. I guess we will see.
I'm trying to keep the build somwhat cheap. I really don't want to spend the money on crank. I'm about to pull the head. Get back to ya'll soon.

Sory to hear that. I thought the trany would go before the motor but 30 degrees is intense. You got to hand it to the little 4.8, it hung in there for alittle while, and made some good numbers. I was rooting for that little guy. If your wife gives you too much greaf about building the motor you want. I can sale you mine $400. It only has 48k on it. runs like a champ. Just thouhgt I'd throw that out there. If I where you I would build your motor and put some forged pistons in for shure, low comprestion like you are doing. Good luck!

I forgot all about 2bseen and his business sounds like a damn good deal better than Justins T-56 IMO.

haha I've shot down my #7 cyclinder twice. The last time I took a chunk off the side of the piston about the size of a half-dime. Whats the solution to fixing #7 lean issue just make sure truck is running pretty rich or I guess you could see which one of your Injectors flowed the most some way. Crappp Suxxx I know that bye bye 4.8L...... hello trouble

Thanks for all ya'lls remorse but I'm more excited than anyone I think. I finally got the head off and #5 and #7 have Identical chunks missing off the upper ring land. I'd say 1.5" long and as deep as the ring land. They are both in the upper left corner right next to the exhaust valve of course. I've never been happy about busting a motor in my life! It was fun while it lasted and to be truthfull, if I wasn't greedy and just backed the timing down to 28* it may still be with us but....oh well. I'm just glad I can afford to fix it and go bigger and better!
Maybe one day I will turn it into the tow truck it was meant to be.....Naaaaaaaaaa.

The more I think about what happened the more I think I just got a bad tank of gas. I bought gas from a station I had never bought it from and is not revered to be one of the "quality" name brands lets just say. I was a little leary about buying it there because they had a selection of 87,89,91,92,&93. Who's to say that they had all their mixtures right? I put in 93 of course. I'll get some pics of the carnage.
