Default Good DD cam for my 4.8..

I have a 4.8 with 94k miles, I plan on getting LT's soon, and after wanna save for a cam. I'd just like some help choosing a cam, I drive my truck everyday, I'd like something that's not so crazy, but that I will feel a difference..

Thanks!

Are you planning on upgrading converter?

Otherwise I would stick within the 220-222 range on a 112LSA. People DD with TSP 228rs on 4.8s.

Depends on your converter though.

Well I guess I would, just I don't know if my tranny would hold?

Do a converter first always. You will hate a cam with out a converter. A converter will take more time off your ET's then a cam. Then do a TR220 on a 112

Tend to agree with ^^^^^ Figure out what stall speed you will be happy with for your needs, then base the cam spec off of that.

I'd do a Yank SS series 3200 or bigger. I have a 3600 and it daily drives just fine.

Depnding on your budget I would call one of the sponsors and get a recommendation for a converter. Neither here, nor there, but I personally have a Circle D converter and Chris's customer service is second to NONE. That said, there is nothing wrong with Yank, either.

Then I would get a cam spec'd for your wants and needs. I had my cam spec'd by Martin @ Tick Performance. I am very pleased with it. A few guys can spec great cams and if I remember right Stock48 on here will spec them as well.

When i had my 4.8 that i DD i had 3 different cams

220/220 114+4
222/224 112+2
214/220 108+4

I liked the 220/220 114+4 the best for DDing.

I'd hit up Stock48 if I were you. He sold a guy with a 5.3 an ISKY 215/215 and that truck performed great at the track.
