Gonna buy a Whipple
#1
Anyone have any issues with these blowers?
I know the older (early 90's) trucks had very good results from them. Any different on the LS1's?
I am not concered with making HP super high in the rpm band (on this vehicle anyway) soI thought the Whipple would work well. Has anyone did a before and after dyno or ET comparison on a fairly stock truck?

I recently got a Whipple on my 5.3L and I have nothing but good things to say about it. There was a huge difference in power and it sounds awsome. Before the Whipple, I ran a 15.5 with headers, exhaust, and a chip. I did go to a 1/8 mile track and could not hook up. Despite my horrible traction problems, I still managed to improve 3 tenths and gain 3 mph, but there is room for a lot of improvement. I am getting Drag Radials and will be going to the 1/4 mile in two weeks and I will post my times. You will not be dissapointed.

What elevation are you at? I had a 2000 ext. cab that ran 15.3 with just airraid and exhaust. Then with pulleys, headers and HPP3 ran 14.82. Sounds a little slow...not to flame.

To 1999 stepside: I am probaly going to det a whipple for my 01 Denali. You said you had headers, chip and exhaust. How do the headers and chip affect the whipple program? Did you have to remove the chip? I have a k&n fipk which i will probably have to take off.

The chip was taken out when they installed the Whipple because they have their own piggy back computer that makes all the correct adjustments. As for the headers and exhaust, I am sure they only freed up some hp and tq. They were on before the Whipple, so I could not tell you the difference in power. I did have an intake, but they did not use it with my Whipple. The modified the stock air box with a external filter, probably to get more air in, but I have seen people who use air intakes with them. If you have any other questions, just ask.

1999stepside does the whipple void you warranty? I only 14,000 miles and have a really squeky alternator pulley and ocassionally a rough idle when starting cold. I will get these taken care of under warranty before the install. Also who did your install? Maybe I can talk to them as live close. I am considering doing it myself.

it cant void the warrunte unless the dealer proves what is messed up (if anything) is caused by the whipple - its the law - someone expound on this ???

The way I understand it, a dealership cannot void a warrenty just because you have a supercharger, or any aftermarket equipement. They have to prove that equipment was responsible for the problem. That does not always work out like that though. My friend had a 99' Ranger with a 3.0l engine. It had mild detonation from the day he bought it and after many times to the dealership, it was never fixed. He decided to get a JET chip to see if that would help any. It helped some, but a while later it started to get worse and worse. To make a long story short, my friend took it back to ford and they voided his warrenty because of his chip, even though they had his truck on file of the problem. So I guess it depends on the dealership you go to, if you trust them, and if they are perfromance oriented. I only have one more month on my warranty, so I really do not worry about it.
As for the install, It was installed a Dealer's Sport Truck in Los Alamitos, 562-936-1230
