Here is another route you can go if you want to swap to another intake. This intake is setup for a carb, but has the bosses so that you can make it into a fuel injection setup. Edelbrock also has a intake like this and on the dyno it made 40hp over the zo6 intake. the one from edelbrock is going for over 800.00 and comes with a msd box to run a carb setup. At this time they wont sell the intake seperate from the box. The gmpp intake is going for 395.00. hopefully i will have the gmpp intake on my truck in a few weeks. I will be converting it to fuel injection. I am going to make a plate that bolts to the carb flange that has a 90*elbow to the front and i will mount the t-body and maf to the end of it. I will also be getting rid of the fogger nozzles and putting a plate setup on it. here is a link to the gmpp intake. /www.gmpartsdepot.com/store/product1.aspx?SID=2&Product_ID=1323&Category_ID=11 &

that intake is gonna kill your low-end.......these motors are designed for intake manifold runners that are almost 13 inches long, you go swapping something onto it that has manifold runners 4-5 inches long and that big intake volumn on the head is gonna catch up to you real fast in the form of reduced low-end torque.....
GM reccomends a totally different cam profile than we are used to seeing on these motors when using that intake.....the cam profiles we have and are used to seeing take advantage of the loooong intake runners we have, they probably won't work very well when using a short-runner manifold designed for a carb

Nitrous will fix the low end. I've had the same idea. I think it would be interesting for a whipple user to swap this so it frees up plenty of room to run an intercooler and plumb it in from the top. Under boost, the runner length won't be an issue.

I have used and dynoed this intake, and the Ls6 beats it by 40 hp at some points. The only point that this intake passed the Ls6 was at 6000rpm+. It will work good for you while on bottle, but any other time, its gonna be a DOG on your truck...a serious one.

nitrous wont help your low end, as i dont recomend spraying down in the low rpm area - it creates way too much cylinder pressure. believe CMarsh, that intake will be a dog for your heavy heavy truck. the LS6 intake is truely underrated by most people.

Well i thought it would be a good idea to put this intake on, but i guess i will be putting on the zo6 intake instead. How much do you think i will gain over the truck intake on a heads cam motor?
