Question GM 4.8l performance info needed

I am a new owner of a 2002 silverado 4.8l truck. I want to make it faster and I heard through a friend that you guys could give me a few good ideas that don't cost very much right off the bat. Anything would be appreciated. I hope to eventually out run a HEMI fullsize.

Thanks

Welcome to the site!

I would suggest starting off with a cold air intake (UPD, K&N FIPK, Vararam, etc) and a custom tune. But you won't stop there, trust me!

The sponsors to the right will have all the stuff you'll need to wake up that 4.8!

Liek scream said the 1st 3 things you should get is intake, exhasy, and custom tune. The intake wont give you great HP/TQ gains but it can help in gas mileage and some other things plus its just one of thise things that eveyone seems to get first. If I could only get on of these things ever and never get anything else ti would be a custom tune by far but if you want to do an exhasut do it and the intake before you get the custom tune(Nelson Performance,PCM4less,MTI,etc...)
Welcome! This is for sure the sight you want to come to for good info and to see some bad *** rides!

It's crazy to see someone from Gulf Breeze. That's where I grew up and went to high school. By the way, it's in North Florida just south of Pensacola.

I believe that I have 3.42's. When cruising at 55mph my rpm's are at like 1400. I'm looking to be as fast as my buddies 04' Hemi Fullsize. We haven't ran em' yet but I know he'll beat me. Do I just send my computer off to be tuned for what I get done?
