Default Getting rid of the old vortec

Hey guys,

I'm new and I have a 98' Yukon. As my first post, I wanted to know if there is any way I can put in a new vortec(or ls1) in place of my original engine? Reguardless of the amount of work, is it possible and has anyone done it?
Thanks,
-Josh

That's James' tahoe - I dont think he's running a gen 3 motor. I think it's a whipple on a 5.7 with many, many, many other mods. Hopefully he'll chime in. He's a great guy- he gave me directions for my TC install last summer

I was pretty drunk in Sicily when i downloaded the pics of his Tahoe. I dont remember what site i was on then. Is it a Gen2 5.7? I thought it was a 409 s/c. Maybe that was some other one. Who know, that Johnny Walker will getcha every time. LOL

Those pictures blow me away every time I see them. A 6000 lb vehicle wrinkling street tires while popping a wheelie. Holy Crap.

Those pictures remind me of a guy WAY back in the day who took advantage of his family's machine shop to put a drivetrain from a '68 or '69 GTO into an old Chevy panel truck. He could yank the front end close to 18" off the pavement, no sweat. I remember my Mom getting really pissed because he did that behind her repeatedly at every light in town one day! She thought he was gonna bounce right up on her trunk!
