Default get a 2500 in the 13s

I'm getting to the point that I need to replace a motor so I'm doing a little planning. The goal is breaking the 13s.

I have a 2001 2500 (not an HD) 4x4. It has a 6.0 in it right now. The truck is on 35 inch tires. I have 4.88 gears with lockers in the front and rear. I also have a NV4500 manual tranny. The truck weighs 6250 lbs. I'm thinking an LSX block as the foundation but I'm open to everything. I'd like to do it all motor if possible. Needs to be somewhat streetable. Its a weekend toy but it needs to run on 93 octane. So what is it going to take?

So how much power will a turbo add?

I was thinking more traditional with good old displacement but a turbo is an interesting thought. Any others?

I am at a similar weight, 6300lbs, and run the 1/4 equivalent of 13.5 with a tvs1900 on a 5.3.... roughly 400hp at the wheels should break 13s easy.

A long block LSX 454 comes in around $10,000. Of course it would need extras such as an intake. I'd say the top would be $12,000. Cheaper is better of course but the goal of 13s is the primary concern so its not a strict budget. I don't just want to throw the money at something just because its available.

I have never done anything with a turbo so I wasn't thinking that route but it appears to be a real good thought. What advantages would the turbo have or a procharger or something?

Around 400HP at the wheels you say will hit 13s. Good that kind of gives me a baseline to shoot for.

Sounds like I'm jumping the gun a little bit on the motor and I should have planned a little bit more before posting but thats alright. This as a mental plan right to build something right without wasting money or time.

400hp is pretty easy with a 6.0 with some kind of FI. Nitrous is another option and is the cheapest way...

I am not 100% but you should have close to 300 hp at the crank. To get 400 at the wheels and $ not a problem, I would get a supercharger with a good tune, beef up the trans and rear end and you should be in the 13s. You might want to think about a smaller diameter tire too, it would help with the times.
