Default Gen III to Gen V swap- what's needed?

So I'm tired of throwing good money after bad on my Gen III 5.3. I keep finding new and expensive ways to fix it. Now I've either split a bore or seized a ring (puff the magic dragon happening here), both of which mean the block is toast at this point.

That said, I am very interested in swapping to a direct injection Gen V (a 6.2). What all would this entail? Does it share the LS bolt pattern for the transmission and will a 4L80 bolt to it? Are the engine mount points significantly different?

I know the electronics are different, so the wiring harness would need swapping. Any particular problems I would run into getting the PCM to communicate with the speedo, etc?

Ive seen a 97 1500 with a gen v motor in it lol. Motor mounts are different and no idea as the only trans they came with was the 6L series. If the flywheel didnt change then a 4L should bolt up but have fun trying to get the ecm to run it. I know some guys on tech had speedo issues as the vss runs through the bcm on the new trucks.

You don't need to swap the entire harness just get a 24x to 58x convertor box part number trg-002 and cam and knock sensor extensions

Does the direct injection require any particular harness points?

Check out current performance, I had them build me a wiring harness when I put my lq9 in my zr2. Was completely plug and play down to the starter wires

I would love my 6.2 aND 8L90E in my 05 1500HD... but I would eveN settle for just the 8L90E.... that should be reality as a standalone at some point lol.
