Default gear swap ?

I currently have 3.08s and I do have a 4wd. My question is about the front IFS differenial, is it interchangealbe from 99-03 as a direct swap? I can put the gears in myself but would like to save the hassel and just swap the rear and front diff's out with the gears I want already installed.

I have never heard of 3.08's on 99 and newer GM full size trucks.

I think all 4x4s come with 3.73:1 gear sets...but anyway that front diff is 8.2" and the rear is 8.5" (8.625") so they won't swap

4.10's are an option for the 4x4's.

Well what code is it that I check to verify the gears. I checked before and was certin it's a 3.08. As far as the front diff vs the rear. I am not talking about swaping the gears from the front to the rear because there the same gear ratio anyway. My question was will any other front IFS diff be a direct swap as long as it's from a 99-03 truck. Swap would be from a truck that has 373 or 410. The problem is that I have to get it from a 4wd truck to get the gears matched up!!

sounds like you will have to get both front and rear gears from a 4x4. of course they will have to be the same ratio, but it sounds like the front and rear gear are different in size (diameter). i am assuming that gears coming from a 99-03 4x4 should fit in your truck. might want to check on what gears you have again. sounds like your truck might be geared a bit high for a 4x4. most 4x4 are geared low for more torque, especially when climbing or playing in the mud. you probably have 3.73's. but maybe i'm wrong and your right about the gears. it's your truck. good luck

I just checked with my uncle for the which code it is and it does have 3.08. The truck has way too much top end to have any thing over 323s. I mean she really goes, 70-100mph takes all of maybe 3-5 sec

Do you have a RPO code that is GT4?

I'll look for some more option codes .. gimmie a few minutes.

BTW, these codes are on the sticker in the glove box arranged by alphabetical order.

If you've got the 3.08s as you say or even the 3.42s I'd move on to at least the 4.10s. They're standard on my truck and I'm happy.
