Default G-Tech'd and was surprised!

I ran the G-Tech on my 01' GMC Z71 yesterday and today and after the inital learning the best ways to launch and shift curve I came out with a pretty decent #.

My first runs were in 2-wheel drive letting the truck shift itself.

16.30@89mph (wheelspin)
16.20@89mph (less wheelspin, manual shifting at 5800)
15.99@89mph (auto 4-wheel, off idle, manual shift)

Today after the exhaust delete and cooler weather.

15.45@91.2mph (auto-4wheel, off idle, auto-shift)
15.38@93.5mph (auto-4wheel, stalled up converter and manual shift at 5800-6k)
15.29@92.8mph (same as above but almost tagged the limter)

The big difference I think came from learning how to launch it hard without spinning the tires, stalling the stock converter up a bit and obviously manually shifting it.

I know G-Techs are horrible for MPH (usually off by 5+mph) but I've used this one on my other cars and I am consistantly within 2 tenths of my actual 1/4 ET from a good track.

I wonder what if a K&N FIPK and a HPP3 would help much?

Just wondering. How do you manual shift at 5800 RPM? If I leave my truck in 1st. it still shifts to 2nd. at 5600 RPM

Not sure why mine wont shift itself and yours does. Thats kinda weird.

If I don't shift fast enough or try to hold it till 6k I will hit the limiter. Myabe my tach is off some but I know just about 6k or maybe a tad after I will hit the limiter.

I just try and get it as close to 6k as I can but maybe it's 5600 and my tach is off or I am reading it wrong. 1st gear goes faster so it's hard to guage.

I need to get a HPP3 or LS1 Edit for this thing. then I could just reset the shift points and rev limit, and get rid of TQ managment(LS1 Edit). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I am very pleased with these times even if they are G-Tech produced. I make sure to completely zero it out before the runs too so I can't be screwing up. Is this within the normal times for a truck like this?
