Default Fuel pump issue?

Yesterday after driving for about 4 hours I got out of my truck when it was still running and noticed a whining coming from underneath the truck. It kind of sounds like it's coming from the fuel tank, so I was assuming it could be the pump. After letting it sit overnight the whine went away until i ran it for about a half hour. I was just wondering if anyone has had this problem and if in fact it was the fuel pump. The truck's a stock 2000 rc/sb 5.3L auto with about 90000km on it. I'm thinking about some n/a peformance upgrades in the future (exhaust, intake, programmer, cam... etc)... I don't want to make a hasty decision, but should this be the time for an upgraded fuel pump?

Thanks,

Richard

I had this same thing happening over the last few weeks on my 2000 ECSB. I change the fuel filter and it hasn't happened since. The filter was so clogged that I could hardly blow threw it.
