Default Fuel Pump Harness Getting Hot - is there a fix????

Guys, 2000 4.3L engine with the fuel pump going on the fritz. It sounds similar to this problem https://www.performancetrucks.net/fo...+won%27t+start. The fuel pump was replaced and worked for about 10 starts and then won't even prime when the key goes to "ON". Found this harness (attached) was getting hot and the 2nd prong had a burnt spot on it. Of course this wire traces back to the hot wire on the fuel pump. For the short term the connector was cleaned up and plugged back in and that worked, but that wire is still getting hot/warm?? This is the harness that the plug on the pump plugs into. Why would this wire be getting hot? Any idea?

Thanks guys.

I'd guess the pump is no good or your fuel filter is clogged. Pump working harder will cause it to draw more current (making wire hot). I know a common failure is the wiring on the pump but I have not heard the harness getting hot.

I think you would blow a fuse if you had the wrong harness.

Check, or just replace the fuel filter. Always check the fuel filter first in a fuel related issue. It is the cheapest fix. It may not be the issue, but I would start there first.
