Default Fuel Pressure Guage Install

I've got the Autometer Electric Fuel Pressure Guage and I just got the adapter from Autometer. Part # 3028- 1/16" NPT Male to 1/8" NPT Femail adapter for fuel rail.

So, heres my question. I'm pretty sure of the answers..but just wanna be positive.

Do I just unscrew the Fuel Check valve off the fuel rail and screw in the adapter fitting? Of course I'll wrap them both in teflon tape. Should I bleed the fuel pressure? Or just have a big towel ready?

Thanks,
Chris

Bleed off fuel pressure and remove the shrader valve from inside the fuel stem. I would have some towels under it to catch any excess fuel.

It probably does. Just take the cap off the fuel rail bleeder, bleed off the pressure with an old rag underneath to catch any fuel that comes out and remove the shrader valve as suggested by ranwalk. The valve is in the fuel rail crossover pipe on the passenger side of the engine. I think ranwalk is referring to the same valve that you are.

It would have to screw over the fuel rail, I dont think they offer one that will work with our trucks. I had to have one fabbed up for mine.

The adapter on mine screws over as well and I got the fitting from Dynotune. It has a cap on the end so I can still use it to relieve fuel rail pressure without removing the fitting and the guage fitting screws into the side of it. Ranwalk may be correct about the threads on the fitting you have they may not be correct.

That fitting will not work. You will need an adapter with a female end on both sides. You will have to fab somthing up using a couple of different fittings. I will try and get some pics of mine when I get off work today and post them.

Here be mine, I didn't use an adapter, just screwed directly into the Radix fuel rail. Has work great for over a year. I had a rag ready when I did mine, but if you let the truck sit for awhile the pressure should bleed off on it's own. I got very little leakage, much less than I was expecting. Mine is Autometer also, so unless they changed their senders yours should work exactly the same. This is on the driver side, not the passenger, near the front of the rail. There was a little cap there that I removed, same thread as the sender. Very simple.
