i have a friend that this past march purchased a brand new gmc sb 4x4(not z71)i think it is an sl.anyway he payed the dealeship for them to put z71 badges on it and put sle on the cabb.well when he first got it i ragged on him(no disrespect on you guys that have fast 4.8's)about having a fake z71 with a 4.8,well about 2 weeks later i said it again and he said he orderd it and it had the 5.3,my knowledge was that you couldnt git a stick with the 5.3??? so i said let me see the motor i looked and it had all of the 5.3 stickers like on the fan shroud.so i guess my question is is he tellin the truth or did he just change the engine stickers??or can you really specially order the 5.3 with a stick?? <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" />

Nah, I hear ya. If that is a 5.3, check the glovebox code for LM7 (5.3) and MG5 (5 speed manual). If he did change the stickers under the hood, that is going to the extreme. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Going to all that trouble is pretty lame. Like Greg said, check the RPO codes, or check the VIN number. One of the digits represents which motor it came with from the factory.

thans yall i checked the #'s in the glove box and it is a 4.8 lol, I'm not hatin on his ride or anything i just hate a lyer...especialy when he doesnt even want to race me(and yes fast 4.8 you ride is very fast).I just got tired of him tellin everbody that he had to pay all of this big $$ to get it that way <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> when he's just fakin it
