free 4.8 motor

Default free 4.8 motor

so a friend had bad 4.8 turned out to be just a blown headgasket and i was given the motor im planning to build it up for to be a nitros application and was curious what are some good supporting mods to hold say a 250 shot one and what will make this motor pur better like cam,pistons,rods,heads, etc any input is helpful

I wouldn't replace anything that doesn't need replacing. Nitrous cam wouldn't be a terrible idea, though. Save your money for a nice kit, fuel setup and tune.

I threw the idea around about building a turbo kit around it since I already have a cammed 5.3 in the truck now with a 150 shot I just didn't know if there was good supporting mods or anything for it

If you already have a 5.3 why hurt yourself by going to a 4.8? If anything take the pistons out of the 4.8 and toss them into the 5.3 which will raise compression. Other wise no reason to swap a 4.8 in the place of the current motor.

Yea I know that I was mainly asking to know like what could I do to it to make it a better motor than my basically stock 5.3

Some will argue the 4.8 is better for boost.

Lots of people including me are running boost on stock bottom end 5.3s with high miles and have no issues. Other than a cam and maybe some new valve springs and retainers I say boost away on whatever engine is currently in the truck.
