Thumbs up Flushed my brakes last night...

DAMN, was that old brake fluid nasty! It came out black. Took me around 40oz to get the old crap from the master cylinder on out.

Aside from that, my brakes work MUCH better now! I'm amazed how much better the truck stops now. I asked a few ol' grease monkeys I know and they recommended bleeding the brakes around 25K! So more stuff to keep an eye out for.

I also went to a higher temp DOT 3 fluid too. It's rated to ~400° as oppsed to the ~280° of the regular DOT 3.

I know it's good to do that every so often. I have a 93 Civic which I bleed about every 2 yrs (clutch, too) . Does GM recommend it and how often? I know brake fluid likes to attract water and dirt.

Nice. I just bled my brakes last night using the power bleeder I bought from Motive after I finally installed the 5th line I was waiting for from Earl's.
Pedal feel is definitely better.

It costs less than $100 and it's well worth it.

**** I got a Mr Helper to push that pedal down a lot. lol

I had to flush mine as that fluid was sooooo gross. If you just bleed them ~25K you should be set.

I believe your manual says to flush every 24 months.

damn, i need to flush mine then. 100K and never been done. i am dumb when it comes to brakes, i can change them and that is about it. so what all do you do, is there a bleeder thing you buy and hook on the line somewhere? or just unhook it and have your helper keep pushing the break peddle?

Default Abs

Any problems with the ABS module. I thought I read somewhere you needed to do something tto the ABS (Hook up to Tech II) to bleed the brakes? Maybe that's if you get air in the lines from the master cylinder?

I'm at 52K and I been thinking about flushing my brakes as well.
