just got off the phone with my muffler shop. they guy says doing an x pipe is a bad idea. he claims i will lose power by using one. also, he recommends using 2 70 series big block flowmasters over any single muffler. he claims they are mild sounding and little resonance. He also claims i will regret putting the flopro on and it will not solve my backpressure problem. is this guy full of ****? he says $600 for a custom flowmaster setup with 2 single in single out 3" inlet/outlet mufflers dumped wherever i want. What do i do?

OK, so if i can get a Magnaflow catback for $370 shipped, should I do that or should I have a flopro welded on?

$600!?!?!

That is a hell of a lot of money for not getting anything.

You will not lose power by using an X pipe nor will you probably gain any but it will help smooth out your exhaust flow to keep it from popping too much.

Flopro's are a very good muffler IMO, I've had one before and they sound great, not as loud as others but I didn't have any interior resonance at all. This will probably be my next muffler I get.

My local shop will do a custom catback using mild steel, 3" piping, and a 20-22" magnaflow muffler for $300. This on my Suburban. Shop around for some deals and better service.

Are you wanting a new system from the manifolds back or just behind the cats? If I were you I would get new 3" cats and have them welded in the stock location. I recommend the Magnaflow catback #15732 for your truck. The inlet pipes are dual 3" and in the muffler it merges into one big 4" pipe. The tailpipe is just like the diesel exhaust systems. This should really open the truck up with that supercharger, especially if you still have the stock muffler and cats.

Also that exhaust shop is way overboard on price!!!

man, i hope i ordered the right cats. i was told by bigtex to order 2.5" cats so i did. please tell me he was right. Son of a bitch I think he was wrong. Will they work? I think i'm gonna go for the magnaflow kit. screw it. I'll probably bolt it on myself and THEN have the cats installed. Otherwise i'll end up paying someone to install the catback.

I'm just going to replace my factory muff with a Magnaflow. I'm guessing around $30-$50 if its too much, I'll bolt it together my damn self. It only set me back $80
