Sure it's possible, but don't you already have this done to your truck?

installed the cam and heads, the electric fans were a bitch, but only cuz i was drunk by then i think. the forged pistons and crank were a great addition, especially now that i've installed the nitrous kit. i put in a floor shifter for the automatic last night, it looks kick ***. later y'all

Good info Neil

I wonder if you leave the stock cable hooked up like he did if you can take the stock shifter on the column off.

Then you could get the steering column cover from a manual truck to clean things up.

I guess the nuetral/park switch, brake interlock, and reverse lights would still work with it hooked up like that. That would really simplify the install.

When he says he " was able to retain the factory shift cable and the benefit of this is that the reverse light and safety measures from the factory still work perfectly! The red arrow indicates were the B&M cable attaches on the back side." it sounds like the used the B&M cable directly to that location from the floor shifter, but where is that factory cable running to/from?

Does the stock shifter arm unscrew from the column?

islandtahoe - That's my Yukon that I did the shifter on. I retained all factory safe guards and displays. Pretty simple but keep in mind it's been a few years now and my memory is a little fuzzy.

Let me know what specifics you want and I'll try and answere them.

The stock shifter is held in by a pin, just drive it out with a punch. You will also need to remove the detent arm so that the mechanism rotates without interference. I retained the key removal safety mechanism so you cant remove the key while in gear. I just relocated the internal small cable to the other side of the column and I have to pull it to remove the key. Real simple and it works good.
