Default Flex a lite fans ? 250 or 280?

Is there a difference in the two models ?
the fan is going on my 02 gmc sierra 5.3l 2wd
Is the 280 better than the 250 easier to install
do they do the same thing fit the same way?
thanks

the 280 is for the new generation trucks. the 250 is for the 1996-1999 gm trucks. i don't think the 280 is going to be available until early may. i have been calling Summit for the past 3 months and they keep telling me just couple more weeks, well it's been 3 months. they have it for $390. anyone know who else might be carring them? how much? and availability date?

What Phatchevy said. I'll add that some guys use the 250 with minor mods on the new body trucks. I have heard of a lot of problems with the thermostat probe leaking where it is installed. Nothing major though.

I have the temp switch set to come on at just over 185'. My truck runs at 185' on the highway with the AC turned OFF. If I get into traffic or turn ON the AC the fan kicks in. I have the Hypertech low temp thermostat and an aftermarket oil cooler installed to keep my water temp at 185'. If you want to remove you factory fan you may want to run two electric fans. You could use two separate thermostat switches set at say 185'and 195'. I did have a leak at the top hose once where the thermostat tube goes under the top radiator hose. I added a second hose clamp and have never leaked a drop since. I have the coolest running truck engine around.
