Fixing fuel pump, removing truck bed
#14
took 2 people to remove my longbed
you dont have to remove the bed either all you have to do is unbolt it and tilt it by picking up one end and bracing it up
8 bolts total and the fillerneck screws
if you did take the bed off the tailight harness jsut disconnects from underneath no need to remove the tailights or anything

I won't debate what you guys are talking about doing. The first and only time I dropped my tank I had never done it before, it took me maybe 30 minutes, did it by myself, was about 1/4 full, and it was one of the easiest things I have done on my truck, as compared to all the other stuff I have done to it. If you don't/didn't want to try it that way and got a couple of extra people to spare, then it's all a moot point. I was just trying to save you guys some work. There may be a few advantages going your route, but it is NOT the easiest route. Saying that, I have never done it your way and don't have much of a comparing basis. That being said, it would sound the same on your end.
Whatever works for you, that's all that matters.

Wassup everybody, its 9 in the morning here, we are gonna start in a while. We are gonna do it by lifting the bed, the tank is almost full so I belive this is the easiest way, plus I got like 6 people coming over, not all are gonna help but if I needit they are there. Hey so tilting it sounds good, but we might take it all the way off. Let me get this right, here is a kist of thing to dissconnect, SOMEONE CORRECT ME IF I MISS SOMETHING:
1. The bolts that tie down the bed
2. Filler cap
3.Wire harness from the rear lights.
THAT SHOULD BE IT RIGHT?!

Ya I guess that sounds about right, I just dropped the tank. Did it by myself including swapping out the pump and putting it in under a hour. However if you tank is almost full then??? Hey they both achieve the same results right. Good luck and dont drop it.

SUCCESS!!! removed the bed, installed new fuel pump, would not start, worried me, found out it was just a burned fuse, put in new fuse, started right up.
Thats the short version. When it would not start after a couple of minutes I was about to get on this site and start a thread, but when I was about to start typing up my question it started right up. THANKS TO EVERYONE!

I think i have to do this. my inline pump is screaming at me and my fuel pressure is all over the place. I think my intank pump is dead cause when i unhook my inline, i get no fuel pressure and the truck won't start. damn it. should i just get an acdelco intank pump? i was told the ls1 pump from racetronics etc sucks cause you have to maintain 1/4 tank of gas or more
