Default Fixing fuel pump, removing truck bed

My fuel pump just went out in my 99 GMC Sierra, I was thinking, wouldent it be easier to remove the bed insted of removing the fuel tank. Has anyone done this before? How easy/difficult is it to remove the bed to fix the fuel pump.

So it should not be too difficult huh, just unbolt the 6 bolts that keep the bed down, dissconnect the rear lights, and huh, that should be it right?

I Put I New Pump On My Sierra 2 Weeks Ago. It Is Much Easier To Remove The Bed Than The Tank. Its Just 8 Bolts, The Filler Neck And The Tail Light Harness Behind The Bumper. I Took The Bed Off Replaced The Pump And Put The Bed Back On In About 45 Minutes. The Bed Is Lighter Than You Think.

I did this this weekend, not bad at all.. I suggest removing the rear tires to you and your buddies can take the bed off easier without worrying about clearing the tires.

IMO, that's crazy. If your tank is almost empty, you can do it in less than 30min. Tow bolts holding the straps on. Disconnect the lines, the filler tube, loosen the two bolts, and the tank is in your lap. Either way will work I guess, if you have a few spare bodies.

Not a stepside, regular bed, I would remove the tank but the tank is almost full. WHAT IS IT WITH THESE WEAK GM FUEL PUMPS!!!

Thanks everyone. The more info the better!

If you have a floor jack and a piece of plywood, you could still do by yourself.

Just To Let You Know, Racetronix Makes A Fuel Pump That Replaces The Pump Inside The Drop In Assembly. It Is For F-bodys, Correct Me If Im Wrong, But I Believe It Will Work On The Truck Assembly.
