First time poster with some ?????s
#1
This is my first post.
Hopefully this is the correct forum (if not let me know).
I was directed hear by a friend of mine who highly suggested this site.
I have always been a big fan of SBC's and have used them successfully in truck pulling. My last stroked 350 finally bit the big one (after an accidental over-rev.....forgot to install the rev limiter chip in my MSD box....after loaning it to a friend for his pull). I have an old BBC (Mark IV) sitting on an engine stand getting ready to go in (already have it and needed an engine ASAP as this is a DD that tows my landscape trailer for my side jobs)
I have looked all over this block after pulling the tins and installing a new timing set and oil pump/pickup and cannot find where a temp sensor would go. On SBC's it's in the head, but on this BBC (with peanut port heads....
.....that will be changed out this winter) there are no ports on the side of the head, just a really BIG plug front and back. I looked at the intake and water neck and there are spots where a sender could go (currently the locations have plugs/caps), but was wondering where it goes on stock motors and/or where most people put them?
Also the oil sending unit goes down by the oil filter, but it comes REALLY close to my headers. Is there another spot or spots where it could go as there is no location like the one on the SBC's
Thanks for any help in advance.
Chris

i'm with zippy, i'm pretty sure on that engine it goes in the manifold. As for the cooling lines.... fab up your own, and send them clear of the header, i think you'll be good. if you can change an engine..... you probably can fab up some lines right? good luck with the project, let us know.

I was hoping that some of the "older"
members here may have (or have had) Mark IV BBC's in the past. I know most gearheads have several vehicles and thought there might be a chance of getting some info.Great site though and thank you for the welcome.
