First performance mods.

I'm trying to get a few ideas for a buddy of mine with an 04 EC 5.3 Silverado with stock 3.73s. After searching around he's pretty set on a cold air intake, full exhaust, computer, and a stall. He ran it last week in full street trim, regular tire pressures, tail gate up, full tank of gas. Best run was a 16.7 @ 84 mph.. ET is a little slow, but the mph seems decent for stock. The first mod we're looking at is a converter, since he works for GM he can get the trailblazer converter at cost. If someone could chime in on what this would stall to behind a 5.3? I've read posts of around 2500 behind a 6.0, but we're curious how the 5.3 will react. Any tips at all would be appreciated. He's been bitten by the mod bug and this thing is bone stock. Thanks.
