Default First INTERCOOLED Whipple Supercharger on a 5.3L!!!

Well this would be kind of a spy shot I guess. I know the picture quality sucks, but I just could not hold back the secret any longer until everything was finished
EDIT: some better pictures

So I have now proven many skeptics wrong. And yes the LS1 intake manifold works just fine

I will have many Better pictures of the setup in about a week with output temperature testing versus a stock Whipple supercharged 5.3L The setup uses a Spearco 2-230 Air/Water intercooler and 3" mandrel bends to get the air where it needs to go. MetalMan (Brett) on this board did the sectioning and welding of the tubes. I know this spy shot is not the greatest to showcase the work, but they came out looking amazing! The LS1 intake manifold was utalized to route the supercharger output air to the most direct path to the intercooler instead of having to go around the truck intake. I am also awaiting an LSX intake manifold (hopefully the price goes down some) and that should give about 40hp over the LS1 manifold on this setup. I used F-body accesories to fit the the LS1 intake to the motor. That is a whole other post if you want details on that But they work really well. My only concern was the strength of the F-body power steering pump that I put on here, and how well it would work on an ext. cab truck with 20s. It all works very well though.

You might also notice I moved the coolant resevoir and the air box. I did this to get a much better shot of air to the Whipple instead of going through two 90* bends. The coolant resevoir looks good in that spot too. (More pics to come) The battery I will relocate to the bed very soon. Also, that coolant hose is going to be replaced soon with an aluminum tube in the very near future

Just from intial idle testing to get the new 42lb injectors tuned, I can tell a huge difference in temperature from SC outlet temperature to post intecooler temperature by putting my hand on both. If you are wondering why I have not tested it yet, it is because of a small tranny fluid leak coming from the tranny cooler in the new radiator I put in damn leaks! It is just the fitting, nothing major. I will have time to fix that tomorrow hopefully, so don't worry Much more will be coming in the next week.

WOW, that is very cool. i never thought of using the fbody intake to get that intake inlet lower and out of the way, great idea. i would think with that set up you could run 9psi on pump gas.

Of course the f-body intakes work fine, there are cars in the 9s using the same intake

Awesome ingenuity, the setup looks killer!

Finally, someone with the desire and resources to get it done. All the polished parts under there look very nice. Bravo!!!

I thought that Parish8 would have done some custom work a while back, but he was too busy putting his foot to the floor to take the time for some R & D. Thats not a bad thing though. He just used 1000psi liquid intercooler system.

XLR8NSS - did you ship off that kit yet?

Thanks for the good comments guys!
some Better pictures would be nice though
I know, I know...they will come soon.
Are you selling the Kit
No, this would take a while to set up. However, I know Brett (MetalMan on the board) here in Phoenix is going to be doing an air/water intercooler bolt on kit that will require no manifold swapping and a little bit smaller intercooler (which will work just fine -I kind of went overkill on my intercooler for if I build an engine on 18psi)
looks real good how much did the Sperco run you ?
It was $935

Is whipple watching! They better be!
I HOPE SO!!

I got the stuff to fix my tranny leak after classes today, so I should have it running for temperature testing this weekend.
