Finally figured out why my engine is running hot at idle

Default Finally figured out why my engine is running hot at idle

I don't know if anyone knows but when you have an under drive pulley the water pump slows down and when it is like 90 to 100 degrees out at idle with the ac on it causes the engine to run hot. What do you guys think. Thanks, Jared

before the pulley it used to stay at 190-195

20 degrees isnt going to hurt it

if it would make you feel better you could get
160 thermostat
electric water pump
electric fans

I have electric fans. I am a ford mechanic and a safe temperature for a ford is 220-230 so I would think gm is the same and 210-215 should be fine.

The only danger to those temps is if you have done tuning to your truck and removed all spark retarding safe gaurds. Hence the benfit of running cooler...more spark.
