Default FAST 102 car intake with truck accessories

Well I took the LS3 intake off of my truck today to get my FAST installed. No bueno. First it wouldn't slide into place because of the drivers side vacuum nipple that comes on the manifold. I took that off since it is a bolt on nipple with an o-ring. I finally got it in place but it wouldn't seat all the way down. My FAST didn't come with valley cover bolts but I'm guessing that is the problem. Seems like the bolt heads are too tall. I might need some button head bolts. Does anyone know what thread the valley cover bolts are?

The bolts are an easy fix but the issue I found was that the manifold wouldn't slid far enough forward to line up with the bolt holes. The front of the manifold hits the alternator. There is no way around it. The alternator either needs to be slid forward/notched/relocated ect. I guess these are the problems you run into when running something different than the average joe.

Just thought I would post this up for anyone who might have a similar setup in the future.

I think I only need about 1/4" of forward movement before the bolts will start. There is a black cover on the back of the alternator. Maybe that can be notched?

Is it usually necessary to change the valley cover bolts?

when i bought mine a few years ago it came with button head allen bolts, though i didnt like those i took a drill with a counter sinking bit and counter sunk the holes and went to the hardware store and got what i needed. as for the alternator you sure it isnt the fuel line thats hitting and not the intake ? if its the fuel rail line get a closed 90% that'll solve that issue or yes you can notch the plastic on the back of the alt.

I didn't have the fuel rail on the intake yet. I just set the bare intake in there to see if there were any clearance issues. I can take a pic of where it was actually contacting the alternator. The mani is painted and the alternator scrapped the paint off of the corner haha

How much can that plastic piece be notched do you think?

Hey Skeet, are you running the LS3 FAST in your nitrous truck. I didn't know if you are running rec port heads in that truck?

yes im running the FAST LSXr intake with the direct port system, yes with retangular port heads, i'd snap a pic for you to show how it sits by the alternator but my truck is at the shop, the direct port is being hooked up!

can you snap a pic with it sitting on the motor? i really never heard of any issues with it being mounted

I already put the ls3 intake back on. So yours didn't interfere with the alt? Did you cut the drivers side vacuum nipple. Cause there is no way in hell it would go in with that piece screwed into the manifold. I had to take that nipple off to even get it to sit down on the valley cover bolts.

I'm glad to see that you have the same set up as me and made it work but it sounds like you didn't have any of these problems.
