Pads nor rotors affect that mushy feel. You need SS lines to change that.

As for braking performance to improve with just pads. It'll be very minimal at best. The most significan't braking upgrade you can do is to change your tires to better tires.

I have the whole set and they are awesome for the price. No dust, improved braking performance by @ 20% and mine are (zinc) gold plated.
Still waiting for WD to post the picture they took.

Be aware that ATE Super Blue is DOT 4 fluid, not DOT 5.

I'm also curious how much improvement in stopping distance and general feel these rotors and pads have. The brakes on my 04 suck IMO, and have since new. Not sure why since it has the factory 17in. wheels. The front setup may be worth trying.

1) The brakes don't stop the vehicle - the tires do. The brakes slow the rotation of the wheels and tires. This means that braking distance measured on a single stop from a highway legal speed or higher is almost totally dependent upon the stopping ability of the tires in use - which, in the case of aftermarket advertising, may or may not be the ones originally fitted to the car by the OE manufacturer.
