Default f body crank different than truck?

can you install a LS1 from an f body into a 5.3 4wd truck?

I thought I read somewhere that the end of the crank(trans side) is different or something?

you should be able to use the 5.7 LS1 crank since the blocks are pretty much the same. I was going to put a 5.7 crank on the 6.0 I had.

I think you are talking about the 99-00 iron 6.0s because the crank wouldn't work with the 4L60E, but lucky for you the 5.7 doesn't have this problem.

That was with a pre 2001 6 liter. Its crank was longer, so it would work with the 4L80 transmission. That model comes with iron heads.

A standard LS1, LS6, 4.8, 5.3, and newer 6.0 engine can be swapped with no physical differences (except weight and 1 non-critical accessory bolt hole).

I see a MTI 422 in your sig. that will fit right in your truck.

The 5.7 crank is also lighter than the 5.3 and 6.0 crank. It's drilled out on the end wher the connecting rods bolt up.

I started with a 2000 6.0 that came out of a wreck with little to no miles on it.I swapped in a 5.7 crank and it works fine,if i had it to do again i would have spent the extra and had the bottom end balanced as the 5.7 has a slightly different balance than the 6.0s.Valvegod said this and he claims he has interchanged cranks with no problems.
