exhaust sound @3000 rpm and up.

i have a 04' xcsb 2wd.5.3 , comp cam, e fans, nelson tune. cai, pacesetter LT's , y pipe no cats. i have 3'' ran from y pipe into 40 series flowmaster with dual 2.25" outlet dumped in front of axle. i love the sound until it hits 3000rpm then the sound totally changes to what is a hard to describe sound but to me it seems alot higher pitched maybe a raspy sound. i have heard almost all ls1 motors do this with no cats and headers. is there another muffler i can run and keep the flowmaster sound without the change @ 3000rpm? or is there a trick to solve this with what i have? i read the post on exhaust drone and adding a capped off pipe on the side. is the sound im hearing considered drone? thanks in advance for the help.
