Default exhaust questions.

Would there be any benefit to removing my ORY and running basically true dual off each header then into an X pipe and into a dual in dual out muffler?

Im trying to eliminate all these clamped joints. without welding the y pipe into one piece thats aggravating to remove. plus eliminate any possible leaks. i also love the f body x pipe sound trying to achieve that.

if doing that would it be better to run all 3"?

Thats exactly what I have exiting out the rear...pretty happy with performance so far, but I'd do side exits or dump at the axle if I did it again. Actually considering something diff tho...with my cats gutted its just a little too loud!

A magnaflow dual in/dual out muffler has the x-pipe built into it thus eliminating the need for the external x-pipe

I've read that having a external x-pipe will still help to benefit the Maganflow internal x-ipipe mufflers...

Same question I am wondering right now, just bought a RST that had side pipes and I am swapping it back to the origonal RST tips out the roll pan. Right now the truck has Stainless longtubes with a 2.5" ORY that merges to just under a 3" single. I cant decide if it will be worth the extra money for 2 flange kits and some 2.5" tubing to make it true duals. I could either get a Magnaflow dual 2.5" in/out and make it true 2.5" duals from the headers back and have the x-pipe in the muffler mentioned above. Or go the simpler route and do a 3" inlet magnaflow with dual 2.5" outlets.

Do you guys think it would be worth the extra work for the true duals. Future mods are a forged LQ4 with 400rwhp plus a 150shot.

What's under the hood? Dual 3" is a little big for a truck with minimal mods...for most NA applications I'd go with dual 2.5" at the most, even if for the LS1 that's in the works

I was also planning on putting (2) 24" long dynamax glasspacks after the Magnaflow Tru-X muffler. The two glasspack can be had for around $50 depending on brand. I had a flowaster 40 seriers on my TBSS and it droned. Put a glasspack after the muffler and it got rid of almost all of the drone. So I figure with LT's no cats and a magnaflow 12568 and a glasspack on each outlet of the muffler. I will have a great flowing true dual 2.5" exhaust still being all strait through. But it will be ok for a daily driver and hopefully not way to loud.

Sounds like a great setup if you go with 2.5 all the way back, I don't think it will be that loud either

So adapt the 3" headers to 2.5 and run 2.5 all the way to the x pipe then dump it?

would it be smarter to get a magnaflow with x pipe inside and just run it or switch to a x pipe and muffler?

will this setup be and louder than with a y pipe? and will drone be better or worse?
