Default Exhaust opinions

Ive read through the stickies, and a lot of youtube.

First off, the truck is an 03 z71 5.3, just for daily driving, and light pulling of marine toys. All I care about is mileage and a great sound.

Im already set on Pacesetter LT's and a catted midpipe. I hate O/R midpipes, so IM planning on re-welding my factory cats back onto a 2.5" midpipe, and running a catback (if I go with the 2.5"), but there is my stopper.

The tips will look like the Corsa Tiger Shark tips, out just below the rear bumper. I find they add the perfect final edge to the exhaust note.

I love the sound of a clean, deep exhaust. Throaty and without rasp.

Is there any sound difference to a 2.5" x pipe, with 2 mufflers, as compared to a 3" Y with one muffler?

Corsa and Bassani have impressed me on the 5.3.

So, go with an X with two mufflers, or a Y with one muffler?

any help is appreciated.

I'd say for what your wanting to go with the Y and a single muffler or split the pipe after the muffler if you want that dual look.

Looks dont matter as much as sound.
When I start the truck, I want that, ooooohhhh mannnn feeling, LOL.

And im not a fan of loudness, as much as a quality, clean, deep tone.

I just finished putting a Banks Monster 3" exhaust on my 01 Z71, I love it! It's nice and mellow at idle and deep and throaty when driving and mean as hell at WOT, no rasp or pop either. The kit is one of the best I've seen as far as fit and quality, took about 30-40 minutes to install in the driveway.

one muffler isnt gonna give you the stereo sound of trueduals. For best tone run true duals with hpipe and 2 mufflers
