Default which exhaust?

hey guys i have two exhaust setups. Which one would be the better one to run that would make the most horsepower.

First is a true dual setup, that is 2.5" from the Pacesetter LT's to two flowmasters delta flow 40's dumped.

Last is a 3" catless ORY with a magnaflow dumped.

Or should i just go with a true dual 3" with two magnaflows. What do you all prefer. thanks.

What's the rest of the setup consist of, or going to consist of? (engine displacement, cam, heads, boost, etc) I see 6.0 in your sig...if it's a mild 6.0, I'd go with dual 2.5's with Magnaflows (not a fan of Flowmasters). If you've got a big cam, head 6.0 or a stroker planned, then go with the dual 3" and Mags IMO. I went with a single 3", DMH elec cutout, and an 18" Magnaflow dumped after the axle, but only because funds are tight. (This exhaust was done with a future mild LQ9 in mind). If I had the dough, I originally planned on dual 2.5's with 4" round 14" long Magnaflows, and an x-pipe in place of the "y", but I couldn't afford to do it that way so I pieced my current setup together instead

Plan for the future & do dual 3". I agree the flowmaster kills power, but damn I love the sound.

yeah i know flows kill power, but they sound damn good. My setup is a 6.0 with a 230s duration cam and 4l80e trans. Future mods will be either 243s heads or a better name brand like trick flows.

True that the Flows don't actually flow as well as the other offerings out there (hence why I don't prefer them), but the amount of power loss is so miniscule that I doubt you'd ever notice it. If they have the sound that you like then go with them...you can always make up the lost 2-5 hp elsewhere

well i like the flows but i can tell that they to kill a good bit of power. I still have that 18" magnaflow i got from u a while back. Might just go ahead and do the true dual 3" setup just to have for future mods.

How do u like that black bear tune. I been thinkin about goin with them. Nelson locks there tunes and i got a good buddie who said he could look over a black bear tune and change a few things if i wanted. Bc i need more of a tune made to my specs rather than by hear say..

i would imagine the power lost would also highly depend on which series flowmaster you're using though. with the current 40 series i run i could see daylight through it so i doubt it's possible to lose much flow there but a 50+ series vs the big case magnaflows, possibly. kinda hard to throw a general statement like "flows kill power" out when there are so many versions to account for.

I'm very happy with the BlackBear tune, and I've received great customer service from Justin. He nailed my tune through the mail w/o even doing the data logging version that he offers (since my truck wasn't running at the time that I got the tune, and needed the PCM retuned to accept the trans and converter that I was installing). He was in the area a few weeks ago so I got to meet him personally and get a street tune/update and there wasn't really anything that needed to be messed with.

Good point, they do offer many different versions, and I know that there are a lot of guys at the track who run their race mufflers...
