Default Exaust Opinions

Hey Guys. I'm still running with stock exaust on my '02 ext cab Z71 w/ 5.3L. I'm really broke right now, but I'm tired of my truck sounding so quiet, so I was thinking about some different inexpensive exaust solutions. I was thinking about cutting about a foot of pipe out, right before the muffler. Then, I would just put a turn-down pipe at the end of the straight pipe, coming from the cats. I would weld flanges on all ends of every pipe (including the turn-down), so that I could just bolt the part that I originally cut out back into place, if I wanted it to sound stock again.

This would probably be a temporary solution, until I get some cash. How do you guys think it would sound? Would it sound like crap and be too loud? I know the more obvious solution would be a cut-out. I thought this might be louder and smoother sounding, since some of the exaust still goes through the muffler when using a cut-out. Let me know what you think.

Man, If you are really broke{ i know how ya feel} then just have them ditch your muffler and weld in a section of pipe. It will be loud but at least it will be farther back. Just a thought.
