Hi, New member here from Quebec, Canada. I just want to share how I routed the exhaust on my 2002 single cab long bed 4x4 Silverado. If it can help inspire other people I'll be happy. The main deal was to notch the trans cross-member to gain space. Then box the opening with some flatbar and leaving holes to access the bolts. That allow to merge both bank right after the headers collectors. In my case I'm using an old set of Pace Setter long tubes that I restored completely with new 4-1 merge collector.
I used v-bands at the headers and beside T-case for ease of installation and removal. I can now remove exhaust with the cross-member still in place that is great! Plus I gained ground clearance compared to the original setup. This is kind of a prototype version I basically eyeball everything so it's not 100% equal. There is still room for improvement later on. My main goal was to get rid of the clapping truck sound And I got to say that I'm very pleased with how it sound. Right now it's going through 2 used Magnaflow straight through muffler. I would like to try different mufflers over time to play around and see which one sound better. I'm not sure yet what I'll do with the rear half of the system. Both to passenger side or centered or one on each side...we'll see.
I'll have to get some exterior shots soon to capture the sound. But here's a little inside clip.
