Engine Swap 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500
Hello,
My dad is going to offer me his truck in a few years when he is done with it to upgrade. I have a few things I want to do personally do to it, but I need some answers. I research all of my answers, but my main question that's been inconclusive is, what is needed to swap the 4.3L Vortec V-6 into a 5.3L or a 6.2L V8? People are saying rework sensors and the Transmission has to be messed with, but if that's too much than I might just engine swap and wait on what I wanted to do over a few years. I want to plan out what's going to be needed so I can target what I need to work for. This is going to happen in 2.5 years so i can get plenty of money, I just need to know how much.

The engine, harness and computer for starters. A dealership can reflash the computer and the transmission controller with the same calibration/VIN to make it all work.
One hiccup is that a dealership couldn't technically do it with your trucks VIN because it's a V6 VIN number and not a V8 VIN. That's something to figure out or get in touch with someone that could swap calibrations without caring about the trucks VIN. If you have emission testings where they check for that, there could be another hiccup as well.
