I can't remember all of the models, but the difference is the pistons, the LQ4 has dished pistons and the LQ9 has flat tops. I know that the LQ9 came in SilveradoSS's, VHO's, and anything that says VortecMax. LQ4 came in HD trucks...can't remember if the Escalade and Denali has the 4 or 9, but I'm sure someone can chime in on that...

Billy, to add to your list of possible donors: The first vehicle to come with a LQ9 was the Escalade, so yes they were available in them, but just because it is an Escalade don't assume that you've automatically found a LQ9 as some Escalades actually recieved a 5.3L, but if had a 6.0L it is a LQ9 because they never did recieve a LQ4. The Denali's on the other hand were all LQ4's except the '05 and up Sierra Denali's which recieved the LQ9. The '05 and up Yukon Denali was still stuck with the LQ4 though.
