Engine prelubing
#1
Got a remanufactured lm7. Need to prelube it. Don't want to buy a $250 preluber. Someone told me to pour oil over the rockers and then crank it until I have good pressure. Does that sound ok? Any other ways of doing it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Finally tried to prelube and check for pressure. Nothing on the dash gauge.
Poured oil over the rockers, filled the filter. Cranked a good 20-25 seconds
more than once, no pressure on the gauge. Should I be worried? I've never worked on engines, or even installed one until now. I've got good grounds.
Need some help.
Thanks.

Funny that you mentioned it. Bought a mech. gauge from Harbor freight. It has a 3/8"-18 NPT adaptor fitting which is too big for the hole at the block. I believe the hole on the block is 3/8" NPT, but which one? If I can get the right adaptor then I can check for pressure. Anybody know what size I need?
