Default Engine opinions/suggestions

How does this sound:

5.3 block bored to 5.7
5.7 Crank
LQ9/LS2 Rods (Maybe forged)
Stock LS1 Pistons (Maybe forged)
Stage 2 5.3 Heads
220/224 .566/.568 112 Comp Cam
LS6 Intake and Injectors

This will be mated to a 5-Speed in a 4x4. What kind of power do you think this will make? Would you change anything?

Just get an LS1 shortblock and your choice of ported 5.3 or 5.7 heads. The cam sounds good.

Cam size/design will depend on intended truck use and power goals.

well obviously with the build he has described he wants big power. Espically with the high flowing intake/heads. SO imo the cam is too small.

I agree, especially since he's going through the trouble of doing an ls6 intake swap

and if hes done his research he knows the stock truck intake is good for ~450HP or so and ~5500 rpm and less. So he must want a high flowing intake and heads thats good for as high rpm as he wants and north of 500hp.

I'll probably go bigger on the cam. I had thought about putting that cam in the 4.8 for now and switching it to the new engine so I could have a little more power now. I think I'll keep my eyes open for a 4" crank to go in it also.
