im fixin to buy a ls1 or 6.0 and work on it on the side so when mine takes a i'll have a badass motor ready to drop in

 

i have 150,000miles on my 5.3 and im fixin to introduce it to a Turbo.....
Tranny is goin to be built first though.

as long as you properly maintain that 4.8L it should last way longer than you think.

speeking of motor life on a 4.8l or 5.3l in a artical of truck trend magazine CSX train company has a 1/2 ton 1999 chevy truck with 400,000 miles on it worked hard still runs fine thay say im not sure if its a 4.8 or a 5.3l though.

 

i agree. proper maintaining is the key man. i saw a pic of a truck . that was an 01 gmc. with a 5.3. that had been turned over almost 5 times.

 

what kinda oil do you use man?

 

Mobil 1 since about 2000 miles. I change it every 5000 miles and use Mobil 1 or K&N oil filters. I also have a K&N intake that does not appear to be causing any additional dirt to pass. At least according to oil analysis.
