Default Predator users past and present?

I recently took the Predator programming out of my truck because premium gas was $2.05 a gallon! After driving a couple of days it now seems as if the truck has more guts off the line and when shifting into second than it did with the programming, and before when I had the HPP3 tuning, and before all this crap when it was completly stock. I know, major run on sentence. What is up with this? I am wondering now if going back to the stock tuning after the Predator tuning it has reset all factory tuning parameters. Does the PCM have any type of progressive programming parameters that change as the enging breaks in or increases in mileage? It seems so to me. This tire roasting from a dead stop and a hard squack going to second was not the case before, so what gives now??? My motor has 18.5k on it now. I have not done anything else, and its been in the high 80's and low 90's lately! Maybe it gets better with age?!

Mine feels better with the Predator programming in. I ran without programming for a few days before I got the Predator and got use to the feel of stock performance and shifts. Then I put in the Predotor tuning and adjusted the shift points, big difference. It pulls better, shifts firmer and faster and lower my 0-60 time by .3 seconds. Buy a cheap stop watch and do a few runs with and without tuning to get a ballpark figure and see if your butt is telling you the truth or not. My butt doesn't always get it right!

I used diagnostic mode to check, and it is back to stock. Also I am using 87 octane gas now, so I think it would be knocking as well without the predator 93 octane tuning.
Just seems weird, it seems just as quick, if not quicker than with the tuning. The shifts also seem alot more sloppy than the tuned shifts. Who knows man!?

When I had my HPP and GMS-C maf (cold air version) I didn't use the HPP tuning, only the raised shift points and firmer shifts. The truck was quicker this way than combining the HPP tuning (either 93 or 87) and the GMS maf tuning. I'm going to put the truck back to stock and not reload the Predator performance tuning so I can run 87 oct gas. What I am going to try is to adjust are the trans settings (quicker, firmer and higher) and advance the spark +5%, and see what happens. The GMS-C maf I had was engraved with +5% right on it and the box label had +5% on it also, so I assume it increased the fuel trims and/or timing by 5%. my truck seemed to like this the best, I may just try it.

Hey, y2k, keep in touch. Let me know how it works out. I will be trying something similar today. I'm going to write down all the trims for the 93 octane settings and the stock settings to compare the two. Maybe somewhere in the middle is where I need to be. I'll keep you posted! It seems as if most people with Predator get discouraged real quick if it doesn't work out right away. Then again those who do get discouraged have alot more mods going than me.
