Default Engine HELP

I have an 02 scsb with 95000 miles on it now, and its starting to spit and sputter when you give it around half throttle off the line. Also makes a poping noise at shift points above 3000 rpm. Feels like it has lost a lot of power especially in the bottom end, spinning the tires is about impossible now. I replaced the wires about 5000 miles ago with granatellis. I think its an ignition or fuel problem, anyone have any similiar problems or possible solutions??? No codes poping up either. THANKS!

I had pepboys replace it about 6months cause I didnt have any choice when it totally died on me. I took it back to them about a month ago and said the pressure was fine. How would I go about checking it myself?
-it also seems to be worse when the truck has been running for a long time

Check it with a fuel pressure gauge. Pepboys may be able to loan/rent one to you.

The proper way to check is measure backpressure. Remove the front O2 sensors, and use an exhaust backpressure test gauge. IIRC you want less than 3 lbs backpressure at 3000 rpm. Check with your local parts store to rent a tool, unless you have a buddy with one.

I have a K&N 77 series and E3 plugs so I would guess those are ok. I will test for backpressure when ever I have a day off work. Thanks for the info AK, the cats are still stock so Im thinking you are probably right, do you like the hi flo magnaflow cats?

Actually, if you are gonna run cats, I prefer the OEM.

And, ditch the E3 plugs. They are garbage. Looking at your sig, I'd say go back to the stockers. ACDelco iridium.
