Default Engine code (P1870) 97 GMC Sierra 1500 350 engine

I am trying to help a co-worker to find out this code and what it is. Can any of you truck peeps help me out.

(P1870 code)
1997 GMC Sierra 1500
350 engine automatic

(he says it has a trailer package that might have had a more heavy duty tranny in it.)

Thanx!

He was thinking it might have something to do with the valve body that he read somewhere.

It shifts hard because it is going into failsafe mode. Usually the ones we see will do it after driving about 30-40 miles when they first start acting up. If the convertor clutch has not been "blued" or overheated, you can ream the tcc reg. bore in the valve body to fix it most of the time. If not ream or replace the valve body, new convertor and input shaft o-ring.
