Why did you ask a loaded question???? There will be just as many answers on both sides of the fence for this one...
Go to a race shop and ask them.
Just do it, run it that is why you bought it!!!!!

Running a new engine hard is necessary for the rings to have the required high cylinder pressure to seal properly under load. I worked for a NASCAR race team and watch plenty of motor broke in on the dyno. They firsts started them, braking in the cam, and shut them down, checked for leaks and retorqued a few things. The next start, they made full pulls with them till the torque numbers stopped climbing and then they knew the rings where seated and the motor was ready to go racing. HTH

Just think when you get a crate motor with the dyno sheets they run the **** out of it and it is fresh. we put a big cam in my dads 427 drag boat and had to run it a 5000 rpm for a period of time to get the cam and things seated right.
