Default emissions test w/o cats turned on?

If I put a y pipe on with dummy cats&LT, and have them turned off in the ECM, will I pass a OBDII emissions test? Assuming they look and "see" the cats with the visual. It's and 08.

I have tuned trucks that they pass the emission with out the dummy cats...

So for me you will be fine with the dummy cats.

What state do you live in? If it's just an OBDII plug in and visual inspection like we have here in Jersey you'll be fine. I have the same setup and have passed numerous times...

...funny, that's the second time today that I answered this same exact question in this section lol

I live in Harris County in Texas. We have similar inspection laws to California. I passed w/o cats. Although the technicians' eyes probably burned like a ****. And they may have experienced some mild memory loss...lol.

Just don't have any CEL's and make sure everything works, your tires have good tread, and your brakes are good, you will pass.

I live in PA. Not sure what method they're using. Most of my cars are older, so they use a tailpipe sniffer or no test at all. How bad is the smell increased without?

Going to be honest, the smell was pretty strong. When they pulled my truck around after the inspection, the exhaust smell was heavy coming from the shop. It was hard not to laugh in front of the employees.

Seems like I've read inspections are a lot less strict the farther North you go. I honestly think you will be fine.

For ObdII, they normally don't do the sniffer test, just plug into the diagnostic port to test for codes, a visual check for cats and test the gas cap. You should be fine.
