I want to upgrade my '02 5.3L with LS-6 heads and cam, but I heard it would make my truck fail emissions tests. Is this true? What about porting and polishing my heads? Will that effect my emissions, too? Any help will be greatly appreciated !

 

Nah, it comes STOCK in Z06's and they pass fine... head work shouldn't effect emissions either. Cams typically do mostly.

You shouldn't have much of a problem but you may require some tuning. With tuning you can pass for sure with that combo. Just make sure to check for lifter preload and such when installing that cam. I think the base circle is different than your current cam.
