electric shock

That made me think of something. Yesterday I got out of the truck wearing a jacket that's loaded with static. I came inside, still no shock walking on the carpet floor. I took off my jacket and could feel it on my arms and legs as I moved the jacket passed me to throw it on the couch. The hairs on my arm were standing straight up just about. I knew a good one was coming. I thought maybe if I take my shoe off and touch my sock to the carpet, it will neutralize the shock. So .. I did. As soon as I touched the carpet with my sock I felt the hair on my arms and legs jump and them lay back down. It was wierd feeling. I tried it again later but couldn't do it again.

Customer's come into the dealership all of the time in the winter, complaining that they're vehicle has an electrical problem and they're afraid that they're going to get electricuted! I've always gotten a kick out of that. We usually tell them to keep a can of static guard in their glove box and they'll be OK.

I read the title and thought this thread was about some electronically controlled shock for our trucks. Damn that'd be sweet.
I've never been shocked by my truck, I guess it doesn't get cold enough here, or you guys just need to put the crack pipe down.

It takes 30k volts to arc across a 1/4 of an inch in case anyone was wondering.
Just cause you think you can take that many volts doesn't mean go and grab a 110 wire, or better a 27k volt power line. They have a bit more bite than the shokc you get from static.
