I just bought an electric fan from ebay, its from a Volvo and it looks to be in great shape. It has relays already with harness attached to it. I was just going to run them on a manual switch for now and later i'll get the nelson harness and have the pcm programmed for them to turn on the fans... but for now im going manual. I did a little test to see if it worked and it spun for a second and blew the fuse i had hooked up almost instantly (30amp)...
So my question is, what type of fuse and what type of switch? There are three wires, Hot, cold, and than a random wire that sits on what it appears to be an extra harness maybe? Idk, I can take pics if its needed. I think the wires are like 14 or 16 gauge. But I just need to know if I could just buy a kit or can i just get a fuse and a switch... Thanks in advance!

Do you know what year and model Volvo they came out of? Maybe you could call a Volvo dealer and find out what size fuse or fusable link it calls for. You mentioned that it already has relays, you should be able to put a low current switch on the ground side of the coil of a specified relay that will close the contacts and power up the fans.

Thx bud...
Ya rock, idk, it blew that 30 fuse.. maybe bc i was just testing it.. it sparked when I touched it to the battery, When I'm ready to install them, I think I might go ahead and wire it up with a 40 fuse and do everything right and have it on a switch and instead of just touching them on a pos and neg, actually hooking them up, I dont wanna install them while not knowing why it keeps blowing fuses... what about if i buy this kit from Summit and just splice the wires instead of using that universal harness? I may see what the directions say and use some of the parts, this one has the thermostat setting for 185 fan goes on, 175 fan goes off... Click me. (oh and I have the 180 degree themro that im installing when i do the fans)
