Default EGR removal

Now that Edit is working, I am going to turn off the EGR. First, will I show a "not ready" for emmisions? and second, what all needs to be toggled to make sure it and all codes are off.

Not sure about you first question since we dont have emission checks here but the codes you need to toggle to TypeX = turned off are P0400,401,402,404,405,

If you turn off the code and set it to type X it will not cause any problems with emissions.

I thought I already told you that. Your new name is BlackBeaSSt.

Id like to know this as well. I remember reading that it will worsen part throttle gas milage and I THINK I remember reading that it also adversely affected part throttle performance. I know it would keep things quite a bit cleaner!

On my 99 truck with EGR turned off, it would ping and stumble more under load at low rpms. I turned it back on. I'm sure a really good tune that altered VE, timing, fueling, etc under those conditions would fix the issue.

Looks like mine will have to stay put. Do you think that perhaps the PCM intentionally runs lean due to the expectation of the recirculation of unburned fuel maybe and when the EGR is removed it runs a little lean? Its probably substantially more complicated than that, but does that sound plausable?

What if I just leave the egr crap off but don't tune it, will the truck start? I don't mind the SES light, since it's on anyway.

Yes, the truck will start fine.

Like BigTex mentioned above disconnecting the EGR without some tuning might cause some pinging.

How about if I got a PCM from and 01 or 02 without egr. I just want that ugly POS out, plus, it just kills my T/B.
