Efans, 110* outside temp..ok?
#1
Anyone have e fans in AZ? I had intended to install them but I may reconsider. Even with the bbmod tstat I am staying at temps that would kick the clutch fan on. I am just wondering and I know this has been debated over and over but wasn't sure if this has been questioned in temps that I am seeing. I don't want to have probs in traffic overheating.

Hey Mudz, I run LS1 efans here. I also have a radiator that is twice the size of the stock 5.3L radiator though. In traffic with the AC on and in gear my setup will hold steady at about 192*F until I start to move -which it then cools down to around 175*F. This is with a 160 thermostat. But I also have a near three inch thick heat exchanger that is in front of the condensor which inhibits some fan airflow in stopped conditions.
Last summer when I had the stock radiator, LS1 fans, and running a 160stat I remember my temps staying around 200*F around town. This was before I began the intercooler project, so there was nothing in front of the condensor either. I really think you will be okay as far as overheating goes, but it won't perform quite as well as the clutch fan. Oh ya, all of this is with a mix of approx. 75% water 25% coolant.
PS. I just got back from CA this morning. It would be cool to meet up sometime.

hey mud, your temps wont drop much if you just mod the tstat. the manual fans dont really kick in till over 200deg so that is why your temp didn't drop much.
if you tow much and plan on keeping the standard radiator then i would stick with the stock fan. if you dont tow then you should be fine with the efans.

I firmly believe the 6.0L radiator is a big contributor to lower water temps and a integral part of a good cooling setup. In 110* heat it would be a good idea IMHO.
Oh, and what the other two said also.

So 6.0 radiator, true 160 stat and 75/25 mix huh. Sounds like a plan to me. What are you all using for auto fans as far as temp to kick on?
Ryan, anytime man. I will be getting home around 5 or so, so anytime after that would be cool. I go to shows on sat nights now since I share a SRT4. They go race somwhere after that so maybe we could play some games huh, win a little dough? LoL
Give me a ring sometime. Pm'd number.
