Default Edit tuned the truck today! Long.

Combination Motorsports out here in vegas used edit and atapi on my truck today.

Anyone thinking of getting a hypertech, or a Predator, forget about it, they are absolute crap to what can be done with edit. If you can find a shop in your town with someone as knowledgable as the guys here in Vegas, I highly suggest it. Can't wait till next Friday to run it at the track to see what improvements I got. They set my limiter to 122mph, changed my speedometer to work with the 4.10 swap, pumped up the shift points, and firmness and line pressure, set my air fuel ratio right on throughout the rpm range, eliminated all of torque management, and set me up for 91 octane.

They also showed me that the Granatelli Mass Airflow is a piece of crap that was causing my truck to run real rich. They had me put in the old MAF, and descreen it, and programed the computer to work specifically with the MAF descreened, so that I would maintain the performance gain of descreening instead of it going back to stock settings like others have complained about.

I know have ***** to the wall power throughout my entire engine rpm range. I can feel the power increase from idle. While tuning, they had me show them all my mods, and he retuned for the power adders. After this was all done, it made my Predator feel like it did nothing. He only set my shift firmness and speed increase to 20%, unlike the 25% I did with the programmer, but it is funny that my truck shifts faster and firmer than it did before. There is no hesitation, and down shifting is instantaneous when stepping on the gas. No more hesitation since my gear swap.

After first taking reading of the truck, he programmed it, then retested it, and made one final adjustment. There is no knock or anything, and I feel like as if there is a different sport motor in my truck. These guys realy recommend that no one get one of the MAF sensors. They said that everyone that has come to their shop with one, was causing problems, and was unstable compared to the stock MAF. I now notice that my truck runs much smoother also.

If you guys are thinking of getting a tune, and are close to Vegas I highly recommend this shop. The whole thing took 90 minutes and cost $200.00 with 100% money back garuntee if not happy with the tuning. Also these guys are superknowledgable, and were able to answer any question that I had, and I had a ton of them. Real freindly.

I know I am going on and on about this, but man, it really does make that much difference, and I felt that you guys need to know, because I was highly impressed with the whole experience.

Edit is the ****!! Only have to use it once to know how it compares to the Pred and HPPIII. That Granatelli MAF is a pile. The people I have known that use that MAF got a really nice lean condition from it.

You are right on Hodgee,
I just had Farmtruc tune mine down here and it knocked .5 sec off my time (Gtech). Truck feels much better, smoother throughout the powerband, totally different. You just can't get better than a tune like this.

I will be going to SEMA, might as well get the tune while I'm out there. Good price.

Yeah, if you are out here get it done! What is nice though is that you don't ever have to convert it back to stock. Even if they look for the programming from the dealerships, it will not show up, since it modifies the base program. Only thing, is that you will not be able to use the other programmers again for any fine tuning, all adjustments will then need to be made by Edit, but these guys said that most changes will be real cheap or free, like if you do a gear swap, and need the speedo recalibrated.

What is great about this, is not that it feels like I got 50 more horsepower or something like that. It is how the drive trucks all around now. The vehicle just seems to know what to do now, like with the shifting, I don't have to mash it for it to kick down and just run right. It runs smoother, and Seth said that the average truck tuned will get between 30 to 50 mile gain on a tank of gas if you keep out of it. Its the way it shifts at wide open throttle, and he's got it to where it shifts and seems to stay right in the power band when shifting. It feels like its got more power from idle, and I notice that just in general driving it seems like the truck just gets up there faster with less effort. That is why I said it feels like a different motor, it drives the way it is supposed to, and actually feels like a sports car now.

How long has edit for 03 trucks been out? I emailed Dave at Carputing a couple of months ago and he said he was still Beta testing it. I made the mistake of getting the HPP3 for my car, and then had to buy in on edit. Getting LS1 edit for my truck for sure.
